Text-to-Speech is Now Available on the Mangahigh Maths Content!

Everyday at Mangahigh, we remind each other of our vision to help every child find the fun in learning. This has made accessibility a key part of our focus for the last few years, and as a result of these efforts, we are proud to introduce our text-to-speech capability for our maths content. The feature is now available on all of our latest activities, including our entire offering for ages 5 - 7.

Mangahigh and Accessibility

Two years ago, Mangahigh partnered with NESTA and the UK Department of Education to make Mangahigh more accessible for SEND students. Since then, we have been upgrading our platform to make it easier to navigate, interact and learn with. The text-to-speech feature is an important component to make Mangahigh easier to use for various SEND students, including those, for example, with dyslexia or visual impairment.

The text-to-speech feature can be found on all our latest Prodigi (quiz-like) activities for ages 5 - 11 and we’re working on expanding this further. For now, it is only available on English (UK) curricula, but it will be rolled out globally soon! Check out how our text-to-speech works in this quick video:

Kye Bracey has been the lead developer and brains behind this project, and shares his thoughts: “The idea of building the text-to-speech feature was initially daunting, especially with the huge variety of content that exists within our platform. There were lots of hurdles to get over, but it gave us a fantastic look at how powerful technology has become to help SEND students. I’m really glad we managed to add this feature to Mangahigh. It’s exciting knowing it will help a lot of students in their understanding, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it evolves from here!”

Your Feedback is Important!

As with any new feature, we would love to know your thoughts! Text-to-speech can help with thousands of students of varying age and ability levels so every piece of feedback is really important to us. Please let us know how it works for you and your students.
